Records of application to the Court for Relief of Insolvent Debtors, 1829-1832.

Contains records of various individuals who sought relief from their debts through this Debtors' Court. One case deals with Thomas Phillipps who painted a portrait of William Foster Dick but never got paid. Dick filed for insolvency after Phillipps sued for payment. Extensive balance sheets are also included for each debtor.

On inheriting his father's estate at Middle Hill in Worcestershire, Phillipps embarked on a career of collecting manuscripts and books. His collection of manuscripts eventually numbered over 60,000 items.
